World Press Institute rises from the ashes

It's not only the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered community that owes her a debt of thanks. (DeGroot, in fact, deserves some of the credit for all of the letters in the GLBT acronym being represented in Minnesota's human rights law.) Obama wins big in South Carolina

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Barack Obama dominated Hillary Clinton last night in a divisive primary fight in South Carolina, where racial overtones and campaign vitriol crept into the contest in recent weeks. Obama and Mrs. Clinton have each won two primary states, and Obama is heading into the bi-coastal, 22-state competition on Feb. 5 with amplified momentum from yesterday's victory. Former Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina had his hopes of winning in his home state dashed last night, as he captured 18 percent of the vote, to Mrs. Clinton's 27 and Obama's 55. Edwards won South Carolina in his 2004 bid for the Democratic nomination.

Staying loyal to his message, Obama, a first-term Illinois senator, delivered a victory speech focused on hope, inspiring young people and changing the tide of partisan politics.
