You can be pro-choice and still be considered a conservative. Because being pro-choice doesn't mean you are pro-abortion, it means you do not want government involved in the choice, or at the very least limited government. But at the same time you teach individuals that abortion is wrong, you do your best to talk them out of it. The same way I am against smoking, but do not want government to write laws outlawing smoking ( though I do appreciate the clean air act ). Pro-abortion means you get upset when a woman choses to not have an abortion, or you minimize abortions as not being that big of a deal. In any case, my main point was people say Huck is against abortions so thereby he is a conservative, and that is false. .
Annual “Lambs to the Slaughter” ritual has begun
And, once the credit card bills begin to get delivered…. the slaughter will begin. Many might be thinking that I'm going to drone on about the high cost of credit, how long it will take to pay off those credit cards, fees, penalties, etc… Not this time. The ritual that I'm referring to is mortgage refinancing. Every year thousands of homeowners find themselves in a little trouble with last years spending habits. And this year many people are going to get the old Double Whammy with roughly 12% of adjustable mortgages coming due. Scratching their heads trying to figure out how they will make ends meet, refinancing (or debt consolidation) begins to look appealing. I know, I've been involved in real estate for 20 years, for the last 10 I have actually owned 3 mortgage companies and I can tell you this happens every year… like clockwork.
More Than Band-Aids
We should expect private enterprises to tiptoe up to the edge of what's permissible. Pushing boundaries is what drives the process of innovation, marketing, and cost cutting, the results of which we enjoy until we are exposed to their unseemly underbelly. If we do not like where those lines are drawn, then it is appropriate to move them. Cuomo's code of conduct will help on this count, but criticizing loan providers or financial aid offices for fostering associations with one another is unfair when we remember that today's reviled “preferred lender" lists themselves were largely a response to federal direction. In the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1990, Congress made reasonable student default rates a condition for the participation of colleges and universities in the FFEL program, thereby giving institutions incentives to prefer lenders with a record that federal officials would deem satisfactory.
Roberts: Trouble foretold
Six months ago, an out-of-state minister known for prophecy told Oral Roberts University President Richard Roberts he would go through a "major storm" but would come through it. The minister also said, "When you enter your 60th year, you'll step to a new level of ministry you've never known," Roberts recalled in an interview with the Tulsa World. Roberts celebrated his 59th birthday on Monday and then began his 60th year, six weeks after three former ORU professors filed a lawsuit claiming wrongful termination and alleging the Roberts family has misused ORU and Oral Roberts Ministries money and resources for themselves. Roberts is on a leave of absence as president while ORU's board and independent auditors investigate the allegations. After the investigations, the board will .
