On Friday, Nelson applauded candidate Sen. Hillary Clinton's pledge to seek seating the state's delegation. He also sought to get the other candidates to promise the same thing.

"In the end, the Florida vote will count — and, so will all its delegates," Nelson said in a statement.

But if one or both parties still have a raging contest for their nominations next summer, no candidate is going to want to bring in votes that might put someone else over the top.

One wild card on the GOP side is a rule giving Greer virtual control of the delegation, whether it's 57 or 114 votes. That means he can broker the Florida bloc to the candidate who does what the state wants — such as putting Crist on the ticket for vice president.

Delegate math aside, operatives on both sides know that Florida is still Florida.

The hub of the turbine monopole will be 260 feet above the surface of the sea. For the concept to work, it is crucial that the wind turbines be light, requiring further technological development.

This floating wind turbine demonstration project will require about $23 million to complete [6]. The comparative unit cost is about $7.7 million per MW installed. Hydro’s future goal for large offshore floating windfarms is far in the future, "but if we’re to succeed in 10 to 15 years, we have to start the work today," said Alexandra Bech Gjørv, Hydro’s director of new energy forms.

General Electric, in addition to manufacturing the 3.6 MW turbines slated for the Cape Wind project, has embarked on a multi-year research effort to design a 7 MW far offshore unit.

An unlikely rescue for pit bulls

I wish he could let us know what happened to him," says Nuccio, the big tan dog's foster mother.

Hector ought to be dead, she knows - killed in one of his staged fights, or executed for not being "game" enough, not winning, or euthanized by those who see pit bulls seized in busts as "kennel trash," unsuited to any kind of normal life.

Instead, Hector is learning how to be a pet.

After the hell of a fighting ring, he has reached a heaven of sorts: saved by a series of unlikely breaks, transported thousands of miles, along with other dogs rescued with him, by devoted strangers, and now nurtured by Nuccio, her roommate, Danielle White, and their three other dogs.

The animals barrel around the house, with 4-year-old Hector leading the puppy-like antics - stealth underwear grabs from the laundry basket, sprints across the living room, food heists from the coffee table - until it's "love time" and he decelerates and engulfs the women in a hug.

David Cameron: 'It's quite difficult to get compost right, isn't it?'

David Cameron is taller than I expected, posher than I knew anyone who isn't a Royal is allowed to be, and (when I catch my very first glimpse of him) somewhat agitated. He pulls up into the driveway of his constituency home - a rather nice converted barn, in Dean, just outside Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire - as I pull up in a cab on the road outside; and now he's worried that my cabbie's about to reverse into the pristine grass verge borders of his neighbour's garden. He's jumped from his car and is gesturing at my cabbie, crossly, and issuing terse, loud instructions - your classic posh man caught in a disagreeable situation. My cabbie meanwhile, is oblivious to the crossness - and growing increasingly excited.

Meet The Receivers

His 2 best years were when Nolan coached him in Baltimore in the 3-4 defense. He'll be better at it than Banta-Cain. But won't the Ravens franchise Suggs?? 2) Other than Berrian, the FA receivers suck. They need to hit on a WR in the draft. Roy Williams would be nice via trade only if Martz thinks he'll excell in the offense here. BTW... Justin Smith would be a good pick up if we get a chance. He's a high motor kinda guy.

Smartphones Patented... Just About Everyone Sued 1 Minute After Patent ...

This past Tuesday, the US Patent and Trademark Office issued a patent on "a mobile entertainment and communication device." Reading the patent, you realize it describes the quite common smartphone. It's a patent for a mobile phone with removable storage, an internet connection, a camera and the ability to download audio or video files. The patent holding firm who has the rights to this patent wasted no time at all. At 12:01am Tuesday morning, it filed three separate lawsuits against just about everyone you can think of, including Apple, Nokia, RIM, Sprint, AT&T, HP, Motorola, Helio, HTC, Sony Ericsson, UTStarcomm, Samsung and a bunch of others. Amusingly, the company actually first filed the lawsuits on Monday, but realized it was jumping the gun and pulled them, only to refile just past the stroke of midnight.

New Orleans repopulation slowing down, study says

The population recovery of the New Orleans region after Hurricane Katrina struck 29 months ago is slowing down for the first time since the disaster, a study released today suggests.

While the six-parish area covered by the analysis is making economic strides, the apparent slowdown in repopulation could jeopardize any gains, said the Brookings Institution Metropolitan Policy Program and the Greater New Orleans Community Data Center.

The report blames a shortage of skilled workers, affordable housing, public transportation and child care for the population trend.

The report is based on the number of households receiving mail. From September to November, New Orleans households actively receiving mail increased by 1,061 - only 15 percent of the growth seen during the same period in 2006, the report says.

Hardware High-Def Sales Tip Towards Blu-ray Disc Following Warner ...

Warner's announcement at CES 2008 regarding its high-definition allegiance appears to have an immediate effect on the buying tendencies of the consumer market.

Throughout 2007, Blu-ray Disc sales have consistently outsold HD DVD by a factor of around double; but starting the week coinciding with CES 2008 up to January 13, those numbers shifted noticeably further in Blu-ray Disc's favor.

According to numbers from Nielsen, reported by Home Media Magazine, Blu-ray Disc sales were 85 percent of the high-definition split. The 85/15 split between the two rival formats represented the largest gulf yet, according historical data charted in the High-Def Digest forums.

Of the top ten best-selling high-definition movies for the week, all were Blu-ray Disc. For the major new releases on each format, 3:10 To Yuma on Blu-ray Disc and The Kingdom on HD DVD, the former outsold the later by ten-fold.
