Bryant's fans' memories, Part Two

Being a photojournalist working at the Birmingham News in the late 1970's and early 1980's I have great memories of Coach "Bear" Bryant. I was only 18-years old when I got to photograph "Bear" for the first time. I had to shoot one of the practices in Tuscaloosa for the newspaper.

I remember him being a stern and gruff old man who had the respect of his players. He would start with them down on the field and then go to his tower to watch over practice.

New Zealand anti-apartheid leader rejects South African award ...

South Africa) was the democratic country with so much hope and I think for so many people it's been the deepest of disappointments, and certainly it has been for me," Minto said.

"I'm just deeply dismayed at what's happened," he told the newspaper.

The Tambo award is the highest honor granted non-South Africans in recognition of friendship, cooperation and support.

This could be the best Six Nations yet

South Africa won a tournament on the back of an efficient line-out, reliable goal-kicking, a sound defence and Bryan Habana's ability to score off turnover ball. Scotland progressed on aggression and Chris Paterson's goal-kicking. Ireland didn't progress at all.

The permutations and variations are many. Show me a coach or an analyst ahead of this Six Nations who claims to have discovered the alchemy for success and I'll show you a liar first, a fool second. So what to expect?

England, with Brian Ashton settled and in charge of his own team, will look to build slowly. Momentum is everything for England. There is no need for them, as Lievremont has done, to bung in a load of new players. Tom Croft and Danny Cipriani can be introduced when they are ready, ideally in the last half-hour of a game that is already in the bag.

How a blimp helped the condo boom

The niche for Gary Lockhart's flying camera service literally spans the globe: the airspace between ground level and 1,000 feet. Lockhart specializes in flying cameras in a "blimp" — technically an aerostat, or tethered balloon — in places where helicopters and airplanes can't go.

He uses standard digital cameras and a custom-made aerial camera that he says produces the highest-resolution panoramic images in existence.
