| Tiger Direct lists the Toshiba HD-A3 for $129.99
DailyTech brought you steady coverage over the past week concerning the latest news in the HD DVD vs. Blu-ray wars. Unless you've been living under a rock, you by now already know that Warner Bros. made the decision to back Blu-ray exclusively. The move by Warner Bros. was followed by similar actions from New Line Home Entertainment and HBO Home Video. Recent stories have even suggested that Paramount is also tossing around the idea of supporting the Blu-ray disc standard. Toshiba apparently doesn't want to go down without a fight and is instead slashing the prices on its HD DVD players. Toshiba's second generation HD-A2 players previously dipped down to the sub-$100 mark during November -- but that was during the traditional holiday buying season and not truly indicative of regular retail pricing.
Along with numbers, targets on their backs
Even though NFL players are schooled early and often on the dangers of their high-profile jobs, off-field incidents have dominated headlines and Web sites the past year. The shooting death of Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor this week sent another chilling reminder of vulnerability rippling through the league. "If they can get you at your house, they can pretty much get you anywhere," Ravens cornerback Corey Ivy said yesterday. .
Tunisia and Angola win in African Cup
Manucho, who is waiting for a work permit before joining Manchester United, scored in the 50th and 67th minutes after Abdoulaye Faye had given the Lions of Teranga the lead in the 20th minute. Flavio finished Angola's scoring in the 77th minute. Manucho now has three goals in the tournament. "The whole team lost concentration," said Senegal's captain, El Hadji Diouf. "It could happen to any team at any time." Angola's coach, Luís Oliveira Gonçalves, said: "The great team does not always win the big battles. We won and we won well." Nsimba Baptista crossed from the right and Manucho rose at the back post to beat Senegal's goalkeeper, Tony Sylva, and score with a header for the second straight match. He got his second goal after a scramble in the penalty area.
